Anniversary Gift Ideas for Your Wife

What does your wife truly want for an anniversary gift? She says "no" but does she mean "yes" or the other way around? Her final answer: yes and no.

So what's a husband to do about a meaningful wedding anniversary gift?

Right off the bat: it's not how much you spend (most of the time), but how much love she perceives is attached to your gift. No wife will turn her nose up at a diamond heart pendant or ring, but do you want to increase its "love" value? Or are you short on cash and long on love?

The solution is simple: it's all in the packaging. Your wife will treasure any romantic gesture that shows you put in extra time or thought with your anniversary gift. You may be thinking that "I'm not creative" or "I don't have any special talent." You don't have to do something extraordinary, you only have to show her it came from your heart. That's what's going to win you a home run, slam dunk and touchdown all at once.

A few ideas:

  • A love letter. No matter how lousy a writer you are, your original words are as good as gold. That is not an exaggeration. If a love letter seems too difficult, write shorter love notes with only a line or two and fill a heart shape keepsake, music box or jewelry box (if you bought a jewelry gift) with them. Or mail her a new one every day for two weeks before your anniversary.
  • If she loves photos, go through your albums and make reprints of your favorites. Write a short love note on the back, which can be as simple as, "Remember when we did this? We had so much fun!" Hide them in her purse, lingerie drawer or briefcase, tape onto the coffee maker or inside the refrigerator. Or mail her one a day.
  • Cook up a romantic dinner for two. Order in a meal if you're not the chef type. Decorate with candles, flowers and mood music. You're the basic food type? Make heart burgers with a cookie cutter or simply create with your hands.
  • Visit your local crafts store. You'll find plenty of heart themed items to wrap or present your gift in. Buy a heart shape box and use a glitter pen to write "I love you always" or "Happy Anniversary to the love of my life." Or buy small decorative stones and write words of love, your names and anniversary date on them. Give in a keepsake box.
  • Do you love working outdoors? Create two interlocking hearts with decorative stones and fill the center with cement. Write your names and anniversary date on the wet cement. Or fill with ground cover. Carve two hearts in your shrubbery.
  • Is this a milestone year? Decorate your car as if you were just getting married, but make a banner that says, "Married 5 (or 10, 20) years and loving it! Take her out for a romantic anniversary dinner.
  • Do you use PowerPoint in your job? Create a love presentation and present it as you would to a client. List all the qualities you appreciate about your wife and marriage and then give a short speech about each one.
  • You're a computer programmer? Build her an online store where she can "buy" love gifts from you. They can be kisses, hugs, a night out (or a night in), make dinner, whatever little treats she loves. The checkout basket will allow her to print out a coupon that she can redeem with you. Or maybe a trivia game about your fun times together or a "Love Poll."
  • Not a programmer but adept with computers? Burn a CD with a slideshow of photos from the time you were married. Add background music. There are tons of free slideshow software demos on the Internet.
  • You're a financial whiz? Create a "Love Account" sheet or a stock portfolio listing your love investments together. Print out and frame.
  • Love sports stats? Make up a list of love stats. Title it, "The (your name) and (her name) Love Team. Stats can include dates when you met (or approximate), marriage date, birth of kids, trips, special moments. Print out and frame.
  • Sports fan? Do a fun, sexy cheerleader routine before you present your anniversary gift.
  • Remember that 1997 film, "The Full Monty" where a bunch of ordinary working guys put together a strip show to earn money? Yes, put on a private strip show for your wife. Give her "love" coupons she can stuff your thong with.
  • If that's over the top for you, read a short love note and sing a romantic tune dedicated to your wife and anniversary at a karaoke bar.

You don't have to give a polished performance or make something with a professional appearance. Think about what you enjoy doing and simply put a romantic spin on it. Your love and enthusiasm will help you create an extra special anniversary gift for your wife that she'll always cherish.

How to Make an Anniversary Gift Basket

Marriage anniversaries are reminders of the social union of two people in the journey of life by starting a conjugal life. They remind them how fresh the marriage is if it has only been a few years since the wedding day. If the marriage anniversary is many years since the wedding day, it reaffirms the love and commitment of the couple towards each other that has stood the test time. In addition, such occasions need celebrations that are equal to the wedding celebrations, if not greater. Getting married is easy, but staying married is difficult. The gifts given on marriage anniversaries should keep this in mind and not be a casual affair. A lot of thought and care should be taken while deciding on an anniversary gift basket.

Regular anniversary gifts include flowers, candies, cakes, photo frames, luxury boxes, cuff links etc. There are some exciting anniversary gift ideas around. It is a novel anniversary gift idea to gift the newspaper of the wedding day. It would take the couple down memory lane and remind them of the happenings in the world around when they were wed. Pampering the couple with bed and breakfast vouchers, cruise or resort tickets for two to spend a few days away from the routine of life would add zing to the couple’s life and arranging for their stay in a health resort to rejuvenate are brilliant ideas. Specially ordered artworks like penciling sketches of the couple, watercolor or oil painting of them are emotional ideas of an anniversary gift. While having their faces painted on an Adam and Eve painting is a humorous idea.

Wine bottles carrying the couple’s names and a message, Mr. and Mrs. shaped chocolate candies, and collections of happy ending romantic movies are some more exciting ideas for an anniversary gift.

The anniversary gift basket can be filled with many things that include flowers, chocolates candies, perfume bottles, a bottle of wine and many other things. Another way to make an anniversary basket by yourself is to buy bulk candy from the store and fill the basket. The choice of basket should be a little different too. A child could be happy with a backpack filled with candies rather than an ordinary basket and a woman will always find another cosmetic or handbag useful. A male will appreciate a travel bag.

Bulk candy can be purchased from stores or may be ordered online from a number of online stores that provide the service.

Wedding Anniversary Poems - A Perfect Gift

Are you and your spouse celebrating your 50 years together in a Golden Anniversary? 25 years in a Silver Anniversary? One year in a Paper Anniversary? Congratulations. In contemporary American society, only 45% of marriages last. Take this occasion to renew your commitment to each other with wedding anniversary poems that encourage you to stay on the journey together.

Married couples that practice a spiritual dimension and who attend church together tend to have a longer and happier marriage. When they take their wedding vows, they promise to be faithful to each other and to include God throughout their entire lives. So, using inspirational wedding anniversary sayings can help renew those vows in a fresh and more meaningful way.

Why fresh and more meaningful? A long-term, successful married relationship includes many hours, days, weeks and years of routine, habitual ways of communicating with each other. After thirty years of marriage research, Dr. John Gottmann discovered that long-term marriages are strengthened when spouses deliberately express fondness and admiration to each other. Writing and reading wedding anniversary poetry allow a husband and wife to share their personal feelings in a unique, fresh and more meaningful way.

One of the best wedding anniversary gifts that couples can give each other are personal wedding anniversary poems that share heart-felt emotion. These poems may be as simple as: "Roses are red, violets are blue, I am so happy that I married you" to sonnets, books, and letters. Poems do not have to rhyme. Consider these three tips for writing a poem to your spouse on your anniversary day.

First, identify the best and happiest moments of your marriage. Close your eyes and relive the memory. Then, write down the highlights, the details and the positive feelings of those moments. Think of what your spouse was like at the time of your memory. How did she look? What did he do? Was there a sparkle in his eye? Were her smile and wink exciting? Write down every detail. Choose one memory from the list and rewrite it on a new sheet of paper (or use your word processor.)

Second, take that second sheet of paper with the one memory. Ask yourself what that moment meant to you. Write down your thoughts and feelings. Fast forward to today. What do those thoughts and feelings mean to you now? Get your pen out and record what you think now. Compare the two lists and circle the most moving phrases and words.

Third, write out and arrange the most moving phrases and words into several lines that make up your wedding anniversary poetry. Be natural and be yourself. If you can work in rhyming, go ahead. Keep working on the words until they tell your spouse a short love story about the memory that meant so much to you. In a sense, you are giving away a piece of your heart which is worth more than any wedding anniversary gift you can buy. Take that poem and print or write it on a sheet of fine stationery or in an anniversary card.

Wedding anniversary poems are a perfect gift you can share with your spouse. The cost is your time and willingness to share your heart. The effect on your spouse is priceless.

Pearl - 30th Anniversary Gift Ideas

A 30th anniversary gift should traditionally have the theme of pearls, although this may seem like an expensive gift especially if it is for friends rather than your husband or wife however it really does not have to be that expensive.

There are many different gift ideas for a 30th wedding anniversary that contain the theme of pearl without actually containing pearls thus making the gift specific to the anniversary year without costing you an arm and a leg.

One of the new ideas is to have a poem written for and about the couple in question. There are people who offer this unique service via the internet, specializing in writing heartfelt and inspirational poetry for every occasion and circumstance.

The poem is created by information you send to the poet so it can be as personal as you like and contain any theme you desire whether it be happy, sad, romantic or funny. The poem is usually sent in a card form that is gift boxed and beautifully wrapped.

To incorporate the poem as a 30th anniversary gift you could choose to have the poem printed on pearl paper or backing paper with pearls on it.

Receiving such a personal gift will always be greatly appreciated and is also something that a couple will treasure for years to come not to mention the thought that has been involved with such a personal gift.

Other more traditional 30th anniversary gift ideas would depend on what the receiver likes, if the gift is for you wife then you may want to consider jewelry, pearl earrings are always a favourite along with the most obvious pearl necklaces these can be beautifully presented and gift boxed.

Men are a lot harder to buy for when it comes to traditional 30th anniversary gifts so you may need to look for a contemporary or modern 30th anniversary gift which has a theme of diamond jewelry. Finding diamond jewelry for a man is a lot easier than trying to find jewelry containing pearls as most men are reluctant to wear pearls.

There are many types of diamond jewelry available for men including watches and rings both of which may seem an expensive gift however what better way is there to tell the man you have spent thirty married years with how much you love and appreciate all they have done by presenting them with a gold watch.

A 30th wedding anniversary is a massive achievement for any married couple so why not celebrate it by having a party with family and friends and making the theme of the party pearls! You can have pearl colored napkins and balloons. A party is a wonderful way to share with others the love and devotion you have for your wife or husband and something that will be remembered for generations.

Anniversary Gift Ideas For Couples

While the mere mention of the words “anniversary gift” can send many a spouse running for cover, they don’t need to be so fear inducing. If you just break down the word “anniversary” you could find the inspiration you need to come up with a perfect gift.

The word “anniversary” is made up of two smaller words. “Annus” is the first part, and means “year”. The “versus” part of anniversary means “returning”. So if you put them together, of course, the meaning is “year returning” or looking back through the years. Doesn’t that get your wheels turning about possible anniversary gift ideas? You could come up with a gift that reminds you and your spouse of all the wonderful years you’ve had together and just what you've meant to each other along the way.

Of course, you could fall back on all the traditional gifts. Every year of marriage is marked by some specific type of gift or material. Early on you have the “paper” anniversary, then it progresses to china, silver, gold and eventually diamond. It doesn’t take too much creativity to follow such a gift-giving chart, but although the gift will surely be cherished, a personalized gift from the heart will mean so much more.

So what sort of anniversary gift can you give that will remind your spouse of the years you've spent together?

Photos are always a great way to relive the past, and marriage photos in particular, tend to be put away a few months after the wedding and then forgotten. You could pull out some of the old photos and do something special to give them new life. Assembling them in an album, especially if they haven’t been previously organized, could make a great gift. You could also have one or more of the photos enlarged and framed or get started with scrapbooking, where you have thousands of options to embellish and present your photos in an elegant and thoughtful way.

Another special gift could be the gift of time. As we get older our lives tend to become busier, and sometimes we seem to be moving in opposite directions. You could plan a special time with your spouse, anything from a dinner and dancing to a full-out vacation. You could also spend time taking a class together. Has your spouse always wanted you to learn to dance, or are your cooking skills lacking? These might be interesting ideas for classes you could take together.

Remember, as with any gift, it’s the thought that counts. Make this year’s anniversary gift one full of thoughts about the past, as well as your future together.

Wedding Anniversary Signature Frame - The Perfect Anniversary Gift!

So you’re having a wedding anniversary. Congratulations! It’s quite a remarkable achievement in this day and age and whether you’re celebrating a 10th, 25th, or 50yr anniversary each year marks a memorable milestone and deserves a special celebration. It also requires a unique gift to commemorate and memorialize such an important occasion.

While it’s important to find an anniversary gift that will pay homage to your past memories as well as capture your new memories, you may also want to incorporate the traditional wedding items such as silver on a 25th anniversary or gold for your 50th landmark anniversary. Wouldn’t it be great to find an anniversary gift that can include all of these attributes?

Well, there is and it’s called a signature frame, and if you’re not familiar with this gift it is a picture frame that can display various photographs of a couple’s favorite memories surrounded by signatures of friends and family attending their special day. It is the modern photo album and guestbook combined and it is able to display past and anniversary day memories together in one eye-catching frame.

The way in which these frames can accomplish all this is by including them at your next anniversary party and it’s simple! By displaying photographs of the anniversary couple inside the signature frame at the party, guests can view these photographs and be included in the couple’s past history and memories while they autograph the signature frame. A personalized engraving in silver or brass can also be incorporated in the frame to follow the traditional anniversary gift customs while also adding a timeless permanence to the frame.

The signed frame, complimented with pictures can then be presented to the anniversary couple at the end of the party as a gift from everyone. Signature frames also have the added benefit of allowing couples to add or change photographs taken at their anniversary party.

By combining a little of the old and part of the new, Anniversary Signature frames will display your past and present memories surrounded by the signatures of family friends that were part of your special day. Your signature frame will become a cherished family heirloom to be enjoyed for decades to come.

2nd Anniversary Gifts - Cotton Anniversary Gift Ideas

Almost two years have passed since you both said “I do” and now your 2nd wedding anniversary is coming up, and as so many times before on occasions that etiquette requires the exchanging of gifts, you get stuck in a gift tunnel vision. An example is the spouse who buys flowers for every birthday, anniversary or holiday. Now don’t get me wrong, flowers are great, and so is filet mignon but I don’t want it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Get the point? Mix it up, put a little thought into it. It’s not as hard as you might think and you might even have fun, your spouse will appreciate a gift that shows you put some thought and consideration into its purchase.

Traditionally, cotton is the symbol for the 2nd year wedding anniversary. Cotton symbolizes the sweet and smooth flowing of the couples’ relationship. When the couple celebrates their 2nd year of being together, they are closer to one another. They are sweeter than the last year. Time may change them for the better. It is right to make the cotton the right gift idea suggestion for this wedding anniversary.

Cotton is a durable, versatile and highly flexible material. These are the qualities of the couple in a successful marriage. Moreover, cotton symbolizes great prosperity.

O.K. now we know that we need to put some thought into this gift and it should probably be made of cotton, I can hear you saying “How am I going to find a thoughtful gift made out of cotton?” Well don’t freak out just yet. Through the miracle of internet shopping and speedy home delivery gone are the days of having to settle for what the local stores had to offer, now the world is at your finger tips, literally.

Here’s a few tips to get you started

Personalized cotton wedding throw.

Personalized cotton towels.

Personalized cotton briefs and underwear.

Cotton Roses

Cotton hammock big enough for two.

Embroidered Quilts

Embroidered cotton t-shirts or jackets

Personalized Photo Pillows

Personalized Photo t-shirts

My favorite would have to be the Cotton Roses, why? Simple, the roses say “I love you” and the cotton says you loved your spouse enough to find roses made of cotton. Just do a search for any of the items above on your favorite search engine and you’ll have your perfect gift before you know it.

Next week we’ll tackle the third year wedding anniversary.

Rejuvenate The Anniversary Couple With An Anniversary Gift

Wedding anniversaries signify milestones passed in a couple’s life; and you can enjoy their happiness at crossing these milestones by gifting them wonderful gifts on their wedding anniversaries. You can very much help the couple feel that they have accomplished something special in their lives with an anniversary gift. In fact, special anniversary gifts are known to rekindle whatever dying romance there may be in couple’s life.

There are traditional ideas for wedding gifts, which you could choose from to make a presentation. Each passing wedding anniversary signifies a different theme for presentation. The first year calls for something made of paper like a book, movie tickets or perhaps wrapping a gift with paper. Similarly, the second year calls for cotton, the third leather and so forth. The twenty-fifth wedding anniversary calls for a silver gift and the fiftieth wedding anniversary, a gift made of gold. Reaching the seventy-fifth wedding anniversary is indeed a great achievement, and calls for a gift made from diamonds!

If you are not content with presenting gifts based on these themes, you can always look out for gift articles to be presented to the couple. There are many gift stores and online stores you can visit to get an idea of the perfect gift to gift the couple. Gifts like chocolates, jewelry, clothes and decorative items are the most preferred gifts. However, you can become ingenious, and using your creativity, create some changes to the gift to make it stand out.

You could perhaps gift a beautiful night out for the couple with Broadway tickets and a romantic dinner for two. Or perhaps a gift basket in a decorative basket, with products that you pick according to the likes of the couple. This adds a personal touch to the gift. If you are not that sure on what to buy for the couple you could always gift gift certificates. There are different gift certificates to choose from; some gift certificates permit the recipient to buy goods in their establishment worth the amount on the certificate. Then there are gift certificates where you can send the couple to enjoy the Florida sun, take an adventure trip, go on a diving trip or perhaps have a refreshing spa experience.

Couples who love parties and partying can be gifted theme parties. You could call all their near and dear ones, order food they like and spring a surprise party for them! As you can see, there are many choices to choose the best anniversary gift from. However, whatever gift you do choose, it should be remembered that it is the encoded message of how much you actually love the couple that is displayed through the gift that you choose for them.

Anniversary gift ideas can sometimes be hard to come up with. Every year you give the same old type of thing and both you and your recipient are tired of it.

Some anniversary gift ideas you might want to consider would include having an anniversary poem written for your loved one or a compilation of favorite songs created. Anniversary Gift Ideas

A jubilee of any sort is a definite excuse to celebrate and to acknowledge a sense of fulfilled experience. It is another opportunity that serves to extend good will and appreciation. As also to acknowledge that those who travel alongside enrich the journey.

Defining moments, new benchmarks of achievement, a threshold to newer pastures, a lifetime of living-all these events share anniversaries that are unique yet universal. Gifts for these occasions must convey your jubilation and compliments. An intensely personal triumph is being shared and needs to be met with equal warmth and generosity of spirit.

An anniversary should be researched and planned well before the shopping begins. What is the anniversary all about? How many people are involved in the occasion? What is your link to the event and the people concerned? How do you wish to convey your feelings about the landmark attained? Are you presenting the gift alone or as a group?

As a group presentation, flowers and confectionary say it best. Each month of the year has a specific flower or color associated with it, so offer the appropriate selection for that month when the anniversary falls. Fresh fruit and wine baskets also appeal, besides invaluable utility kits or items that reflect hobbies and shared interests.

An individualistic approach would be to go for gifts that speak from your heart and convey your pride and satisfaction. Your knowledge of the key persons who are being celebrated will guide you to choose the right memento. Books, artistic pieces, office or home accessories, spiritual or religious talismans are some of the favorites. Jewelry with specific stones of the zodiac or animals that represent noteworthy qualities is another alternative. Handcrafted personal stationery or customized products can also convey the right touch with élan.

A cross-cultural celebration requires more attention to detail and cultural appropriateness. Your balance and foresight in choice of gift will go a long way towards earning you long-term associations with the persons concerned. You can unknowingly insult or sully the moment if your gift is carelessly chosen, badly wrapped, ill-timed.

Anniversary gifts must show your love and loyalty and your sincere hope for a future that quadruples the present exhilaration.

Anniversary Gift Ideas

Did you know that it was Emily Post who, in 1922, wrote her first etiquette book that gave suggestions as to what anniversary gifts should be given for the first, fifth, tenth, fifteenth, twentieth, twenty-fifth and fiftieth wedding anniversaries? She recognized the importance of given traditional gifts and wanted to set a standard for her family and friends and the public in general. Years later, she included more years to her list and recommended that gifts should be given the first fifteen years of marriage and every five years after that.

During the early years of marriage, gifts are simple and can be quite inexpensive. For instance, the first year is paper, and a gift can be as simple as a greeting card. Other token gifts include cotton for year two, wood for year five, iron for six and tin for ten years of marital bliss.

A great gift idea for any anniversary is a personalized poetry gift framed in silver for a couples 25th or gold for a couples 50th. Anniversary poems can be personalized for any wedding year and can be framed in a variety of ways.

Of course, there are many other anniversary gift ideas that can be given including flowers, candy, jewelry, gift certificates, etc. There are no end to the websites that have literally thousands of suggestion as to what might make a special gift for a couple you know who are celebrating any number of years together. You can also go to almost any mall or specialty shop and find a number of gifts and cards that are appropriate for anniversary gifts you can give to a couple, whether it be family or friends, who are celebrating an anniversary.

Anniversary Gift Guide

An anniversary gift is the opportunity to show your loved one precisely how much they mean to you and how special you think they are.

The list at the bottom of this post shows the traditional anniversary gifts for each of the major wedding anniversaries. Even within this structure there is substantial scope for you to get your loved on the perfect anniversary gift.

A little thought into your loved one's personality will help you to understand what kind of gift they would really love.

What does your loved one like?

It sounds obvious to buy a anniversary gift that your loved one will like but many people buy gifts that they think that their loved one will like. This often translates into what you think they should like, which might be very different from what they actually want.

If you don't know then there are a number of things you can do to find clues.

  • Listen to them for verbal clues as to gifts they may like
  • Observe what they do, movies they watch, sports they play etc.
  • Look at what they already have and think of complimentary gifts

What makes them so special to you?

Think of this anniversary gift as your way of showing your loved one how special they are to you and how much they mean to you. Thus your anniversary gift should represent your love for the special person in your life. Buy them a naff gift and you'll be in the dog house for a long time!

However if you spend the time to buy a really special anniversary gift that they will love, your relationship will truely benefit, both from the gift and your greater understanding of your other half.

Find a quality anniversary gift at a great value

There are numerous retailers selling traditional anniversary gifts such as jewellery and flowers.

Don't be afraid to think laterally however in your search for that perfect anniversary gift. For instance a paper gift could easily be a concert ticket, a romantic holiday or even a charity gift.

From here much of the work is down to you. You know your loved one better than anyone and you alone can choose the perfect anniversary gift for them. Nevertheless there are several online gift shops that offer a good range of anniversary gifts at good value.

Barbara Gordon is principal writer at The Good Gift Guide, a site that exists to to help you find that perfect gift for the person you care about on their special day.

Anniversary Gift Baskets

Anniversary gift baskets are a great and thoughtful way to say “happy anniversary” to a special couple in your life, whether they be family or friends. You can personalize a gift basket and make if fun for you and for the couple you are giving it to.

Start by finding the perfect basket. This depends on how much you want to spend and what you want to fill the basket with. It doesn’t even have to be a basket. Anniversary Gift Ideas

My husband appreciates practical gifts. He’s much like his grandfather who would be giddy when we’d give him bungie cords. “You can never have too many bungie cords!”

That’s all fine and good for THEM. But, I certainly do not want anything practical for an anniversary gift. No blenders, no socks, no vacuum cleaners. He’d better get something special or he’ll be hearing about it for years to come.

Now, before you think I’m some gold-digger, that gift does not need to be expensive. I just want a gift that had some thought put into it.

Here are some ideas for the men out there who are about to have their secretaries pick up “a little something for the wife for our anniversary”. I may just save your marriage, or at least keep you out of the doghouse this anniversary.

Expensive Option:
Plan a trip to relive your honeymoon. Find out where you stayed, which restaurants you ate in, and book a trip to go do it all again. Walking hand-in-hand through the same streets as you did years ago will definitely be a special anniversary for your wife.

Less Expensive Option:
Find a Priest, Pastor, or friend and gather your friends together at a park or in your church. Renew your marriage vows to your wife to show her you’d marry her all over again.

Last Minute, Most Affordable Option:
Gather as many photos as you can of your time with your wife. From dating through your engagement, your wedding, the birth of your children, to the current day. Turn these cherished photos into a DVD movie presentation or into a hardbound book. There are services online where you can do this quickly and easily. Heck, you can even have your kids help you put it together.

Free Option:
Write her a card, telling her how much she means to you or sing her a song. It doesn’t cost a cent and she’ll love you for it!

It’s not about the amount of money you spend. It is truly about the thought that you put into the gift. So, start thinking now how you can wow your wife. She definitely deserves it.

First Anniversary Gift Ideas

Anniversaries are occasions to celebrate togetherness, love, trust and unity. The first anniversary is also a time to celebrate surviving that first critical year - which is often toted as the most difficult time in a marriage. There are many adjustments that need to be made and lots of kinks that need to be worked out. So if you know a couple that is about to celebrate this extraordinary milestone, congratulate their success and achievement with a special gift. Anniversaries have historically been associated with gifts made from various materials including polished metals and precious stones. Traditionally, the first anniversary has been symbolized by paper. Today, it is also marked by the gift of clocks. Henry Van Dyke wrote, "For those who love, time is eternity." If you are in need of further inspiration, trying sending your friends or family congratulations and warm wishes with one of these wonderful first anniversary gift ideas:

Framed Newspaper from the Day they were Married: Finding the perfect paper gift is easier than it sounds. Unlike other anniversary gifts, paper allows you to be extremely flexible and inventive! One idea is to have the front page of the newspaper from the day they were married custom framed in wood or metal. It makes a wonderful keepsake gift that will be cherished for years to come.

A Special Book: If the couple enjoys reading books about history, travel or science, or if they are both avid Stephen King, John Grisham or Michael Crichton fans, how about giving them a hardcover version that they can read together over and over again. Other ideas are to pick up a coffee table book that humorously illustrates the first anniversary or the various facets of marriage, or buy a few books that talk about special places that they might like to visit.

Tickets to an Event: Here's some paper that will not go to waste! Give them the ultimate first anniversary gift of fun and entertainment. Pick up a couple of tickets to a seasonal, musical or sporting event that they'll both enjoy. Just place them inside a nice card for giving purposes.

Antique Clock: Show them that love is timeless with the gift of an antique clock. Look for wrought iron indoor/outdoor clocks, cuckoo clocks, mantle clocks and dial quartz wall clocks. Make sure to research the authenticity of a piece before making a purchase.

Gift of Time: Interpret clocks to mean watches, calendars, traditional clocks or the gift of time. If the couple already has children, offer to baby-sit the kids for them while they go out to dinner or get away for a weekend. It's a wonderful gesture that makes a perfect first anniversary gift.

Over 50 years of marriage most couples will have a huge selection of photographs of all the experiences they have shared, a really thoughtful gift would be a scrapbook showing these memories in detail, you will need to begin such a project well in advance as these can take some time to create however well worth the time and effort invested.

Anniversary Gift For Him

Marriage has its ups and downs, but those that endure have one “happy anniversary” after another; each growing more meaningful as memories accumulate and love continues to grow. Anniversaries are a time to show your significant other how much you care. As a woman selecting a gift for your husband, you have an idea of his likes and dislikes, so a gift should convey a celebration of your love and an understanding of what will please your “best friend”.

Sticking with tradition, the first anniversary should be a gift of paper. A simple, yet practical gift for your man could be stationary with his initials engraved on the sheets of paper and envelopes. A more elaborate gift could be a personalized poem handwritten in calligraphy on parchment paper and framed in gold. A framed photograph of a special trip or moment would also be considered a gift of paper. Moving on to the second anniversary, cotton is universal and could be any number of handmade or commercially produced items. The third years warrant a gift of leather; the fourth fruits and flowers; the fifth is wood. The 10th anniversary is significant and should be tin, the 15th is crystal and the 20th is china. If your marriage endures through 25 years, silver is the gift of choice and the 50th is gold. To find what other traditional anniversary gifts are given throughout the years, go to the Internet where you will find hundreds of sites that list gifts year by year.

The journey from paper anniversary to diamond anniversary is a long road to travel, and every year deserves careful thought on your part to make sure the gift you are giving, whether it be paper or gold, is given with love.

15th Anniversary Gift Ideas

Reaching your 15th anniversary is a worthy achievement, proving that that are dedicated to your husband or wife.

Traditionally the 15th anniversary gift should be something made from crystal alternatively you could opt for the more modern fifteenth anniversary gift which should be made from glass. Watches are also a popular gift for a 15th anniversary.

It is important to set yourself a budget when looking for any style of gift as it can be extremely tempting to spend more than you can afford and possible regret your choice later on.

Think carefully about the type of gift you are looking for, consider the receivers personality and what their likes and dislikes are and at the same time try to incorporate the crystal or glass theme.

You will need to decide if you are going to purchase a traditional gift containing crystal or the more modern style before searching for your 15th anniversary gifts as this will narrow down your choice and make it easier to decide.

If your husband or wife enjoys relaxing with a glass of wine then the perfect gift would be crystal glasses, these could be inscribed with a personal message to give it a more personal touch, you could also throw in a nice bottle of wine that you can share together.

Should you decide to go for a more modern gift and you are looking for a watch or clock, try to incorporate this into what the person enjoys, if they are athletic a sports or divers watch might be an idea, if they enjoy cooking and being in the kitchen a fancy kitchen timer may be a better choice.

Finding a 15th anniversary gift for a wife is possibly easier than for a husband this is because all women love jewelry and there is a huge variety of necklaces, bracelets and rings that will have a small piece of crystal embedded with in them. Giving any woman a piece of jewelry is considered a symbol of love and if you can find something that contains crystal it will show that you have considered the meaning of this milestone.

Another popular choice of gifts for women would be a crystal vase, all women love flowers so why not give your wife a stunning crystal vase and then send a lovely bunch of flowers to be placed inside.

Men are more difficult to buy for when trying to add crystal into the equation. Many wives will look for a watch, you may be lucky enough to find a watch that contains crystal, try to consider when the watch will be worn, there is no point wasting your money on a fancy watch that is never going to be worn.

If you really are stuck for ideas then a really thoughtful fifteenth anniversary gift would be to have a photo taken of either yourself or you both as a couple and have it framed in a crystal frame.

Anniversary Gift for Him

Its time for that special day and you’re trying and failing to come up with an idea for an anniversary gift for him. What do you do? You can’t give him another cologne set and he’s all ready got too many ties, besides all the sport equipment he needs for decades to come. Take a breather. This year indeed seems to be destined to provide a unique anniversary gift for your man.

Think for a few minutes about him. He must have mentioned an interest in something that struck in that past two or three months or perhaps he’s got something minor that has been bothering him. Does he stand all day on the job? You could make up special coupons to give him foot massages when he gets home feeling sore from work. Be sure to throw in some fragrant lotions to rub in while your at it. Guys like to be pampered they just don’t want to admit it.

He may have an interest in reading. Does he have any favorite authors? You could get a signed copy of one of his favorite titles or if he likes older books you could go to a specialty shop and get an old edition of something like Jules Vernes, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Sports fanatics may all ready have all the sports equipment that they need and may even have season tickets to several venues, but there is always something that they don’t have or haven’t thought of. Is there a way you could get a signed photo of one of his favorite players? You may have to start looking months in advance for this one. The best place to start would be sending a fan letter requesting a signed photo or baseball/basketball/etc. Card of the player. You should make it as easy as possible for the signer, by sending the photo or card and an SASE with the address and stamps all ready on it. If you don’t get a response or have a reply in the negative you can start looking around online or in sports shops, this may cost more money and carries a risk of buying something that is fake. Be sure to check that the signature comes with some sort of documentation, such as a photo or an expert’s appraisal in this case.

Traditional Wedding Anniversary Gift

A traditional wedding anniversary gift varies annually. There are certain characteristics of each gift's description for couples to follow each year. Many couples follow traditional guidelines very carefully. Although it may be considered a little "old fashioned," these guidelines have been around for many years. Older and younger couples make use of these suggestions to employ tradition. As they’ve been around for many years already, these traditional anniversary suggestions will be around for many more years to come.

Traditional couples are encouraged to be clever with their gift ideas. After all, many traditional gifts require some form of creativity. Take for instance the first and second year anniversary gifts, which are of paper and cotton. That requires some thought! Nevertheless, the first anniversary, which is a traditional gift of paper, provides a large amount of space for options. Gifts can be in the form of money, magazine subscriptions, cards, and stationary. You can personalize any of these gifts or come up with ideas of your own to choose from. Throughout the years, these traditional gives can be kept as mementos or family heirlooms.

Many of the milestones provide platforms for more expensive gifts. For instance, a tenth year anniversary's traditional gift is China. There's an unlimited resource of information on China available through the internet. Despite this information, be forewarned that some of the finest China can come with a hefty price tag. If you have questions about specific collectible pieces, go to an official website for price-related information. Others, of course, are less expensive--but quite often look just as good. Perhaps your spouse already has a partial set of fine China that they've been collecting. If so, you can always add to their collection.

Traditional wedding anniversary gifts don't have to be boring. A traditional gift list is meant to be used as a guideline. You can use a purchase a gift made out of a specific material and put your own unique spin on it. Add a spice of your every gift you purchase on an annual basis. Whether it’s a milestone or not. Feeling playful? Wrap the gift in humorous gift-wrap. Give a humorous card. Your spouse will be tickled and thankful that you remembered your special day. Even if they know their gift will be made of, they'll have no idea what to expect. Your spouse will be filled with anticipation each year.
